So we have two people discussing dreams about scenarios that couldn't happen: you can't forget to prepare for an exam if you're not in school. Then we have Black Hat Guy, who I guess is trying to disturb them by making up dreams. It's so detached from its own internal reality it's almost Zen.

Just as an aside, I've never had any of these dreams, so they're clearly not universal.

I used to think all the common dreams were stupid. But then I started to have dreams where my teeth fall out, and I hear that's a common one.

Why This Matters

As the years drag on, the early, golden years of XKCD constitute an ever-smaller fraction of its lifespan. The jokes have passed from whimsical, through insufferable, to positively Garfieldian. Today they are mostly just dated, written by and for the kind of people who still think Neil deGrasse Tyson is cool. I have not Greg's bonhommie or Carl's sheer malice, but this torch must be kept burning, however feebly; and so it is with the greatest humility and respect for hateblogs past that I join the succession of pyramid-kickers.
