It's kind of weird to have numbered lists with parentheses in what is supposed to be spoken dialogue, but really impressive for Randall to have been doing this for almost 15 years without learning how to write a natural-sounding conversation.

First) Artifact" usually refers to some fluke observation. It sounds like the effect was actually there for whatever reason; it didn't arise from a mistake in data processing. If your anomalously high measurement was an artifact, it's not a "data error" (whatever that means). "

Second) Black Hat Guy is pathetic here. Is he trying to hit on her?

Third) "Tremble before my algae" is ultimately Joss Whedon's fault.
