OK, the trick with this one is to remember that Beret Guy is there to do wacky things. Technically there isn't anything on a vending machine promising that you will get what you paid for within any particular length of time. Actually, this would be the only way to get "fresh" pears from a machine, since any other arrangement would require them to have been previously grown, transported, and stored.
