I would find the emerging dystopia much easier to bear if it wasn't presented like an episode of Barney the Dinosaur. Wrapping oppressive dictates in this affectedly folksy tone was really a masterfully clever trick, as any objection can be immediately dismissed as disproportionate. Colds are bad! We just want to help fewer people get colds! Don't you think colds are bad? Are you saying you want more people to get colds?
